Diptyque standard candle in Violette - £38
available from Liberty, John Lewis, Selfridges

Rob and I recently celebrated our eight year anniversary, and even though we aren't big on presents (I am much more of a card and dinner kind-of-girl) there was one thing I had my hopes set on. A Diptyque candle. And so to Liberty's we went where I spent the next fifteen minutes umming and ahhing over the plethora of scented candles and fragrances they had to offer. Diptyque is a French perfumery brand born in Paris, 34 boulevard Saint Germain to be precise, where they began to create their legendary repertoire of fragrances. The brand now boasts a collection of home and outdoor candles, eau de toilettes, colognes and body lotions, all sporting the iconic black lettering on the renown oval label which spells out simplicity and luxury in equal measures. Diptyque has a certain je ne sais quoi that makes it such a desirable and alluring brand. I am currently burning my new Violette candle as I type and I know full well this won't be my last dabble with Diptyque.

The scent of my new candle is reminiscent of an old fashion sweetshop, soon after someone has spilt the jar of parma violets all over the counter. It is sweet, floral and powdery and is absolutely beautiful with a very calming aroma which instantly fills the room the moment you open the box. The standard candle can burn for up to 60 hours so I think you definitely get your money's worth with these products and I am excited to indulge in some of Diptyque's eau de toilettes next time I happen to be passing by Liberty's!

Have you tried anything from Diptyque? Which is your favourite fragrance?
