Givenchy - Nothing New
Back when Riccardo Tisci was the Creative Director of Givenchy, he gave the brand an edge through streetwear and obvious branding but now that Clare Waight Keller is at the helm this has changed. I feel like if you were to put Riccardo's runway next to Clare's you wouldn't recognise it as the same brand.
A big difference is that now it isn't just celebs wearing Givenchy, you've got royalty too. Meghan Markle's wedding dress was a Givenchy design by Clare. With Clientele like that, really you do have to sophisticate the brand a little.

Spring/Summer 2020
Tailoring was certainly a strong element to this runway with quite a few blazers and more formal trousers but with an oversized fit. Really oversized in fact, to the point where in some cases you question whether it is supposed to fit like that. A perfect example of this is the outfit Kaia Gerber wore.
Her look was slightly more evening appropriate but the fit was horrendous. There was gapping around the boob area of the crop top and the skirt was wildly too big around the waist. I have no idea if this look was intentional but it just didn't look right to me. I love everything about this outfit; the lilac crop top and black leather midi skirt combo is definitely something I would wear on a night out but my god, I would hope it would fit better than this.

In my opinion the crop top/midi skirt combo is the best look of the runway and it did feature a number of times. Towards the start of the runway there was a gorgeous, all leather, forest green top with a ruffled, rolled over top but quite structured paneling on the top. I thought the construct of these tops and bottoms were stunning.
Other than the crop top, midi skirt combos, there isn't a whole lot for me to like in this runway. There are some elements, like there is a blazer which has quite a boxy fit but the use of a black shirt underneath makes it look slimmer. This blazer is also perfectly balanced with a tiny pair of shorts. I liked the outfit but I wasn't wowed by it, it was just helped a little bit by the fact that it actually fit well.
I have to say the Givenchy runway seemed a bit bland to me and I wasn't overly impressed by it. A crop top and skirt should not be my favourite outfit in a runway. I want to see something a little bit more creative than that. Compared to other shows this season, I was not impressed.

Based on This Show, What Should You Add to Your S/S Wardrobe?
Crop Tops and Midi Skirts. This is not a new concept, I already have co-ords but these were some of my favourite outfits of the runway.
An Oversized Fit. Much like Balenciaga, there was a big oversized theme but I couldn't tell whether the Givenchy runway was supposed to be as oversized or if they just hasn't fitted it well. The forest green co-ord seemed to fit much better than the one Kaia Gerber wore/
Not a Massive Amount to Take Away. I really loved the look Kaia Gerber wore on this runway which was what prompted me to talk about it but I have to say there wasn't much I liked in this runway. This is important to talk about because not every runway is going to take your fancy.
